The Franklin Boys Cross Country team finished 2nd in the State Championship in Hendersonville, TN. The Admirals were led by Hudson Hurst's 17th place finish in 16:32.33.  Hardin Valley Academy won the title by placing 4 runners inside the top 10. Brentwood's Kevin Vanderkolk lead the way for the county with a 2nd place finish in a time of 15:36.12. The senior set the pace the entire race battling with Lebanon’s Aiden Britt and Miles Ally of Martin Luther King. Britt ended up overtaking Vanderkolk in the final half mile for the win, while Vanderkolk fended off a final surge from Ally, who had edged Vanderkolk for the Region 6 title last week. “It was much tighter out there so I figured the only way I could do something was to go out there and take the lead and start pushing right away,” said Vanderkolk, a Belmont commit. “It paid off, I think. It was super close. I knew Miles, Aiden were going to be right there at the end, but it was fun.” The senior edged Ravenwood’s Thomas Abramson (16:33.17) and Nolensville’s Nick Beattie (16:34.43) at the finish.
