The Summit High School and Fairview High School teams qualified for the Wrestling Duals State Championship in a very different fashion. Summit, after winning the District and Region Duals, advanced with a win over Arlington on Saturday at Summit High School. The Spartans came out on top 49-15 in the AAA Sectionals. Independence, Runner-up in the District 14AAA/Region 7AAA to Summit, traveled to Collierville where they fell short 41-33. Fairview, winners over Millington Central in the the Region 8 Championship 78-6, advanced to the State Duals via forfeit.
The State Wrestling Duals will be held in Williamson County Schools with Division I Class AAA held at Centennial and Independence High School, Division I Class AA held at Nolensville, and Division II and the Girls Invitational held at Mill Creek Middle. Because of capacity and attendance issues, the tournament moved from the Williamson County Ag Expo Center and the bracket was reduced to half the teams participating. This year's Sectional round cut the AAA field to from 16 to 8 teams at the State Duals and from 8 to 4 teams in Class AA.
