A pair of Brentwood High School runners finished 1-2 at the Sanders Ferry Showdown boys cross country race in Hendersonville Saturday, but it was the Franklin Admirals that collected the team title. On the girls’ side, Brentwood’s Kaitlyn Vanderkolk was the top Williamson County finisher and guided the Lady Bruins to the team title, while Independence finished second. Another Vanderkolk, Kevin, crossed the finish line first in the boys’ race in 15 minutes, 57 seconds. His teammate Brody Chapman was second (16:09.83) and Franklin’s Hudson Hurst was third in 16:21.50. Kaitlyn Vanderkolk finished in 18:57.34 for third overall, behind Dinah Winders of Henry County (18:31.10) and Samantha Oullette of Murfreesboro Central (18:51.93). Independence’s Julia Halterman closed in fourth in 19:03.98 as the top Lady Eagles finisher. Saturday’s meet featured 12 boys teams and 11 girls teams and also included county runners from Brentwood Academy and Ravenwood.
