Brentwood 21  Summit 0

Due to inclement weather throughout Williamson County Friday, four high school football games were delayed and finished through the week. At Summit High School, Brentwood wrapped up a Region 7-6A win by playing the final 12 minutes, 59 seconds of their 21-0 victory on Sunday. The two teams tried to wait out the lightning delays Friday night before the game was rescheduled after midnight. All three touchdowns came Friday night as the two teams stayed scoreless through the end of the third and fourth quarter. Homzi Nassar and Jackson Lowe both scored rushing touchdowns to lead the Bruins, while Grant Nelson fired a 31-yard strike to Ryan Barrett for the first score with nine minutes to play in the second quarter. Nassar, who broke loose for a 35-yard run to ignite a scoring drive, pounded in from 1-yard out less than two minutes after Brentwood’s first score for the 14-0 lead after Isaac Hayes’ PAT. Lowe’s TD came with 6:20 to play in the third. Summit actually out-gained Brentwood 237-209, but committed two turnovers – interceptions snagged by the Bruins Adam Fontechia and William Stockoff. Nassar finished with 116 yards rushing on 15 carries to lead Brentwood. Nelson completed 6 of 12 passes for 80 yards and the TD. Austin Harvey guided the Summit offense connecting on 14 of 26 passes for 113 yards. He also rushed for a team-best 57 yards. The Spartans play their next five games on the road, beginning at Blackman Friday. Brentwood, which bounced back from a 10-7 loss to Father Ryan, hosts Henry County in Week 4.

The Eagles picked up a Region 7-6A win in Franklin after enduring a lengthy weather delay. Tre Hartwell broke loose for a 77-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter for the go-ahead touchdown for Indy. After a strong showing Friday night, the Centennial offense failed to find any rhythm Saturday as quarterback Brendan Jones was intercepted twice. Dominic Reed provided two interceptions and a blocked punt for the Cougars. His blocked punt was returned by Myles Johnson for a touchdown Friday. The Eagles scored first Friday on a 34-yard touchdown throw from Cody Pagach to Hudson Cobb. Tanner Lee responded with a nine-yard touchdown run to end the first quarter for Centennial. Landric Mayeski connected on a 27-yard field goal for the Eagles in the second quarter, but the Cougars managed to regain the lead entering the half on Johnson’s touchdown return.
