Ravenwood Boys 1 Back After Day 1 Of State

The Ravenwood High School boys golf team is one stroke back of the lead after the opening day of the Large Schools State Golf Tournament in Manchester at the WillowBrook Golf Club. The Raptors carded a 13-over 301 to finish one stroke behind overall leader Farragut and a stroke ahead of third-place Greenbrier. Connor Caparos finished with a 1-over 73 to lead the Raptors and is currently tied for sixth on the leaderboard heading into Wednesday’s final round. Lance Thompson of Farragut and Dickson County’s Jackson Herrington shot 5-under 67s to lead the tournament field. Collier Thompson is tied for 11th for Ravenwood with a 2-over 74, with teammates Colin Alexander tied for 16th a stroke back and Michael Hake tied for 34th with a 7-over 79. Brentwood golfer Troup Wallace also carded a 7-over 79 on the opening day. The Lady Raptors shot a 13-over 157 Tuesday and sit six strokes behind leader Tennessee in the team standings. Hannah Walton is the top Ravenwood golfer tying for 12th with a 6-over 78 on opening day. Franklin’s Sophia Dipaolo is the top Williamson County golfer on the girls’ side with a 3-over 75 Tuesday tie tie for eighth. Isabella Van der Biest of Dobyns Bennett leads the field with a 4-under 68. Shelly Jang is tied for 16th for the Lady Raptors with a 7-over 79 and teammate Emily Nelson is five strokes back tied for 25th along with Summit’s Claudette Runk. Tournament play continues Wednesday in Manchester at 8 a.m.
